In a central location in the birthplace of Michiel de Ruyter, within walking distance of the beach, boulevard, stores, cinema and the old harbour town you will find the Hotel De Ruyter (previously the Hotel Boulevard). The hotel was built at the end of the last century in a stately building that dates back to around 1890 and has three stars. There are ten comfortable rooms all with private bathroom with shower and toilet. In the morning you can enjoy a delicious breakfast in the wonderfully cosy breakfast room and the conservatory or, in warm weather, on the roof terrace.

The extensive breakfast buffet includes freshly squeezed orange juice, croissants, De Ruyter bread rolls and of course Zeeland buns. All types of coffees and teas are available free of charge and you can also order a chilled beer, a variety of wines and soft drinks or something a little stronger at any time of day until 22h00. The hotel also has wireless internet. Smoking is only permitted on the roof terrace or on the balcony of your room.

Whether you are a tourist, on a business trip or part of a group, Hotel De Ruyter is a wonderfully friendly hotel where you will feel immediately at home. Your host Wilco Steenkamp is there to greet you personally and will be more than happy to inform you about everything that Vlissingen and the surrounding area have to offer.

Rooms

The ten hotel rooms are split up into the following categories: standard, comfort, comfort-plus and luxury. All rooms are equipped with radio, TV, chairs, hair dryer and private bathroom with shower and toilet.

The standard room is the smallest room and has a 140 x 200 cm double bed.
The comfort room has two single beds that can be pushed together or separated as required.
The comfort-plus room is more spacious than the comfort room and has a balcony with chairs where you can smoke. These rooms offer the possibility of adding an extra bed.
The luxury room is a more spacious room with twin beds. Within this category you can choose from a family room that can sleep a maximum of six people or a double room with a giant bathroom with bath, separate shower, toilet and bidet. The luxury rooms are on the ground floor and first floor and are more easily accessible for anyone with restricted mobility.

Vlissingen and surroundings

Take a breath of fresh air on the unique Boulevard, walk to the beach, visit the friendly centre with its indoor shopping centre in less clement weather. The Vlissingen beach is within walking distance of the hotel and offers you beautiful views of the ships sailing on the Westerschelde. Historic sites such as Middelburg, Domburg, Veere, the monumental Belgian city of Bruges, lively Knokke and Antwerp and Gent are located nearby and very well worth a visit.

You can visit a host of different places under your own steam or by public transport. You can also discover Zeeland by bike. Bikes can be hired in Vlissingen and you can park your bike in the hotel garage. There are different ANWB (tourist organisation) routes and there is an extensive cycle junction network that allows you to set up your own routes. As well different routes for trips by car and bike the region also offers a wide range of fabulous walks.
